Where did the CBUS sticker idea come from?
Back in 2002, I had an epiphany while looking at the car in front of me on the road. I asked myself, "Why do we get a sticker from some place we visit once a year on vacation? Why don't we support our hometown of Columbus?" Right then it came to me. I need to make an oval sticker for Columbus, Ohio. The CBUS sticker!
Granted, not too many people come to Columbus, Ohio for vacation, but we sure do get out of town for our vacations. We should let the rest of the country know where we are from.
It took me a year and some inspiration to finally get the sticker made. During a trip to the Outerbanks (OBX), Emerald Isle (EI) to be specific, I decided it was time. During the 12 hour drive home I got myself psyched up about the idea. Once I got back, I told a few people about the idea. I remember one time in particular when I was out to eat with some friends and they were as excited as I was about the sticker. Five days later, I was dropping off the design to have my stickers printed.
As you can see, it took me a while to follow through with my idea. In the end, I figured it could either be a really good story to tell people, or I could have the only CBUS sticker wallpapered bathroom in the world. Now, wouldn't that be a story.
Anyway, I hope you think the CBUS sticker is something that you would like to share with the rest of Columbus, or CBUS! Get one for yourself or send one to a friend that has moved away. Columbus is great! I have lived here my whole life and I couldn't think of a better place to call home. Thanks for your support.
